Jeffrey M. Reichard

Jeff Reichard is a nationally recognized construction attorney who represents owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, suppliers, and lenders in complex construction and commercial matters, including advising clients from contract negotiation and project planning through dispute resolution, arbitration, and litigation.

Jeff's practice encompasses virtually every aspect of the construction process. He negotiates and drafts construction and design agreements, counsels clients on project risk management and procurement issues, and represents clients in disputes involving delays, payment claims, mechanic's liens, payment and performance bonds, construction defects, design issues, insurance coverage, change orders, terminations, and other complex construction disputes. He also advises clients on public contracting requirements and regulatory compliance.

In addition to his construction practice, Jeff advises design professionals, contractors, owners, and other business entities on intellectual property issues, including architectural copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and related commercial matters. As a registered patent attorney, he offers clients an uncommon combination of construction and intellectual property experience.

Clients appreciate Jeff's practical, business-focused approach to resolving disputes and managing risk. He works closely with clients to develop strategies that protect their interests, minimize disruption, and support their long-term business objectives via pragmatic, cost-effective solutions.

Jeff is an active leader in the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law, where he serves on the Governing Committee after previously serving as Chair of Division 5 (General Contractors). He is a frequent national speaker and author on construction law and regularly presents on topics including construction contracts, public procurement, payment issues, project delivery, and emerging legal developments affecting the construction industry. He has also been quoted by national media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal and CNN.

Jeff has been recognized by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America®, Super Lawyers, and other leading legal publications for his work in construction law and commercial litigation.

Before entering private practice, Jeff worked as a software engineer for Cisco Systems. Outside the office, he enjoys traveling with his family, snowboarding, mountain biking, backpacking, playing soccer and tennis, and following North Carolina athletics.
