Overview

Jacob Farrell is an Associate in the firm’s robust Construction Practice Group. As an accomplished military veteran and former Captain in the United States Air Force, Jacob utilizes his skills and experience in communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning in every matter. His unique background and dedication sets Jacob apart in his ability to address complex construction issues for his clients.

Jacob routinely advises a diverse range of construction stakeholders throughout the lifespan of their projects, including owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. He shepherds deals by drafting complex construction contracts and related agreements, and he navigates disputes alongside his clients should conflict arise. Jacob is experienced in multi-family and commercial development, as well as public contracting under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), its various agency supplements, and state-level public construction regulations. As an officer in the military, Jacob administered public contracts from the perspective of the Department of Defense, balancing the priorities of Contracting Officers with the DoD’s operational objectives.

Prior to joining the firm as an Associate, Jacob served in the U.S. Air Force as a Nuclear Missile Combat Crew Commander and most recently served as a Reserve Chief of Plans and Programming at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Throughout his career in the military, Jacob has been trusted with sensitive information, individual responsibility for multi-million dollar weapons systems, and has directly supervised airmen for nearly a decade.

While in law school, Jacob completed over 150 hours of pro bono service for those in need, published in the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology, and earned a seat as a national tournament semifinalist while on the Holderness Moot Court Negotiation Team. Jacob now uses these negotiation skills daily to assist clients in achieving their goals as quickly and efficiently as possible.
