Four Attorneys add Employment, Real Estate, and Finance Experience

Maynard Nexsen is pleased to announce the continued growth of its Dallas office with the addition of attorneys Darren Harrington, Brian Hurt, and Luis Jasso and the relocation of Alex Risman from D.C. to Dallas. These strategic moves underscore the firm’s commitment to deepening its capabilities in one of the nation’s most dynamic legal markets.

The recent expansion reflects strong momentum in Dallas, reinforcing Maynard Nexsen’s ability to serve clients across real estate, corporate, labor & employment and complex commercial matters.

“These additions reflect the strong trajectory of our Dallas office and our continued investment in the Texas market,” said Dallas Office Managing Shareholder, Charles Omage. “They each bring exceptional talent and experience, further enhancing our ability to deliver sophisticated and responsive service to clients across multiple practices.”

Darren Harrington brings 30 years of experience representing employers in employment litigation and regulatory matters. His practice focuses on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) matters, non-compete and trade secrets disputes, wage and hour issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and anti-discrimination claims.

Harrington has built a strong reputation advising employers with precision and strategic insight. He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law and holds both a B.B.A. and a B.A. from Southern Methodist University, where he lettered four years as a football player. Harrington enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a reservist in the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion.

Brian Hurt joins the firm with more than 25 years of experience handling employment and labor matters, including extensive litigation involving OSHA, FLSA, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, and Title VII claims.

Hurt previously served as a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor, where he led and co-led high-profile OSHA cases, including matters resulting in some of the largest penalties assessed by the agency. He also oversaw OSHA whistleblower investigations and litigation across a five-state region, including Texas.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and holds a B.S. from the University of Arkansas.

Luis Jasso joins the firm as an Associate in the Private Markets and Real Estate practice groups. He represents lenders, developers, owners, and investment sponsors across a broad range of commercial and residential real estate matters nationwide.

Jasso brings experience across the full lifecycle of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, development, and leasing. His work includes drafting and negotiating key agreements such as purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, development agreements, loan documents, and leases.

He earned his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of La Prensa Law Journal, and holds a B.S., cum laude, from the University of North Texas at Dallas.

Alex Risman has relocated to the Dallas office, further strengthening the firm’s Credit & Restructuring capabilities in Texas.

Risman focuses his practice on real estate financing and state and local taxation matters. His experience includes due diligence review, loan document preparation and negotiation, title and survey review, and managing transaction closings. He also advises clients on state and local tax considerations tied to real estate transactions.

Prior to joining the Dallas office, Risman practiced in Washington, D.C., where he represented lenders and developers in transactions ranging from single-asset deals to large, multi-property portfolios.
