Maynard Elevates Ten Attorneys to Shareholder
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (January 3, 2022) — Maynard & Gale (Maynard) is pleased to announce the promotion of ten attorneys to shareholder, effective January 1, 2022. The Firm’s new shareholders include Alina Arbuthnot, Caroleene Dobson, Baker Findley, Charles Fleischmann, Mitchell Greggs, Josh Hess, Brandt Hill, Brannon Parker, Rich Pugh, and Ann Watford Todd.

Alina Arbuthnot is a member of Maynard’s Public Finance Practice. She serves as legal counsel in various public finance transactions, including as bond, issuer’s, bank, underwriter’s, and borrower’s counsel. In addition to her experience with general obligation and revenue bonds deals, Alina assists clients in structuring public-private partnerships and development incentives. Alina is the founding director and current Vice President of the Alabama Chapter of Women in Public Finance. Prior to joining Maynard, she. Alina received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and she holds a B.A. magna cum laude in Political Science and English from the South Carolina Honors College.
Caroleene Hardee Dobson is a member of Maynard’s Real Estate & Financial Services Practice. She represents clients in all aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, developments, dispositions, conservation easements, and commercial leases. Caroleene has also handled the representation of multiple institutional lenders in real estate secured transactions. Prior to joining Maynard, she practiced law in Texas. Caroleene graduated magna cum laude from Baylor Law School, and she holds an A.B. from Harvard College, where she was captain of the women’s polo team.
Baker Findley is also a member of Maynard’s Real Estate & Financial Services Practice. His career is devoted almost exclusively to the representation of development companies, private equity investors, non-profits, and other companies in the acquisition and development of commercial real estate, including retail, multifamily, and self-storage assets. In addition, Baker has significant experience in the formation of real estate related joint ventures. He earned his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees simultaneously from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, and he holds a B.S. from Auburn University.
Charles Fleischmann is a member of Maynard’s Compliance, Investigations, and White Collar Defense Group. He focuses his practice on corporate compliance, risk management and governance, in addition to government investigations, regulatory defense, and outside general counsel services. Charles provides legal counsel to businesses and executives facing, or looking to prevent, government investigations and enforcement actions, and he advises clients on their compliance policies and programs and conducts tailored trainings and assessments to mitigate risk. Prior to joining Maynard, Charles worked in Washington, D.C. He earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Washington and Lee University.
Mitchell Greggs is a member of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. He is an experienced litigator whose work includes representing businesses and individuals in disputes involving non-competition and non-solicitation agreements. Mitchell also represents and advises companies regarding employment and severance agreement disputes, contact disputes, intellectual property issues, discrimination and harassment claims, and other employment-related matters both before and during litigation. Mitchell is a registered patent attorney and frequently works with members of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. He received his J.D. cum laude from Washington & Lee University School of Law, and he holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama.
Josh Hess is a member of Maynard’s Insurance & Financial Services Practice, focusing in the areas of bad-faith insurance claims, managed care litigation, and consumer finance lawsuits. He defends a variety of Fortune 500 insurance companies, managed care organizations, and financial institutions in complex litigation, including class action and antitrust cases. In addition, Josh provides regulatory advice to insurance companies and financial services providers regarding compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations. He earned a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law, and he holds a M.B.A. from the University of Alabama Manderson Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Clemson University.
Brandt Hill is an experienced litigator with a heavy concentration defending higher education institutions in arbitrations and litigation and advising schools on regulatory issues. He also maintains a busy appellate practice representing clients from a variety of industries in civil appeals in courts throughout the country. Prior to joining Maynard four years ago, Brandt spent several years with a large firm in New York defending companies in antitrust litigation and pro athletes in high-profile arbitrations. He received his J.D. from Tulane University Law School and also attended Hong Kong University Law School. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was a member of the school’s Division 1 baseball team.
Brannon Parker is a litigator in the Firm’s Insurance & Financial Services Practice. He represents companies in a variety of complex litigation matters, with a concentration defending life, disability, and property/casualty insurers against claims for breach of contract, fraud, and bad faith. Brannon also advises insurers on matters involving insurance coverage, compliance, fraudulent insurance claims, and rescission actions. In addition, he defends financial institutions and brokerage firms in FINRA arbitrations relating to suitability, churning, and other alleged sales practice violations. Brannon received his J.D. summa cum laude from Cumberland School of Law and B.B.A. from the University of Georgia.
Rich Pugh is a member of Maynard’s Real Estate & Financial Services Practice. He represents public and privately-held companies, commercial banks, and investors in all types of real estate matters in markets throughout the United States, with a particular emphasis on leasing. Rich represents both landlords and tenants across all asset classes, including retail, medical, office, and industrial properties. Rich graduated magna cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a three-year captain of the men’s varsity tennis team, and he graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law.
Ann Watford Todd is a member of Maynard’s Public Finance Practice. She represents cities, counties, boards of education, universities, nonprofits and public corporations as bond counsel and as special counsel for public projects and economic development. Her experience includes taxable and tax-exempt financings, securitization transactions, project development agreements, revenue sharing arrangements and local tax elections. She also regularly advises financial institutions and underwriters in transactions involving governments, nonprofits and healthcare entities. She is a founding director and current Secretary of the Alabama Chapter of Women in Public Finance and a member of the Alabama Leadership Initiative Class III. Ann received her J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, and she holds a B.A. magna cum laude from Davidson College.
