Rich guides Fortune 500 companies, other public and privately-held companies, commercial banks, and investors in all types of real estate matters in markets throughout the United States. As a Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Real Estate Practice Group, Rich has significant experience in the acquisition, disposition, and development space and in all matters in between. His national practice has a particular focus on negotiating leases on behalf of both landlords and tenants across all asset classes.
Rich’s high-volume practice is anchored by multi-year, multi-deal relationships with his clients. His skills and experience have earned him recognition as a “Rising Star” in Real Estate by Super Lawyers and by the Birmingham Business Journal. Rich is also a published author and lecturer in the area of commercial real estate.
Rich joined Maynard Nexsen in 2014 and was elected to become a Shareholder of the Firm in January 2022. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a three-year Captain of the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team and was selected as the Conference Rookie Player of the Year as a Freshman and the Conference Player of the Year as a Senior. Rich received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he was an editor of and published in the Georgia Law Review.

Experience
- Represent Regions Bank in the disposition, acquisition, development, and leasing of bank facilities and office towers, including the $60MM sale and partial leaseback of a 140,000 square foot office tower in Miami, Florida
- Represent Boise Cascade in the acquisition and management of its nationwide industrial property portfolio
- Represent investor in the acquisition of dialysis clinics located throughout the United States
- Represented MainStreet Family Care in the development of urgent care clinics throughout the Southeast
- Represented one of the country’s largest residential home builders-developers in various portfolio acquisitions in Alabama, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee
- Represented major for-profit education company in various lease transactions and operational issues associated with approximately 75 campuses nationwide
