The Carolinas Are No. 1!

01.29.2020

For those of us in the Carolinas, we already know that our two states are great places to live and work. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics recently affirmed that fact through an annual report, the Union Members Summary, issued this month. According to that report, the Carolinas are the least unionized states in the nation. South Carolina’s union membership rate is 2.2%, and North Carolina’s rate is 2.3%.

By contrast, the two most unionized states are Hawaii (23.5%) and New York (21.0%).

According to the annual report, the unionization rate of public-sector workers remains high (33.6%), but dropped to 6.2% for private-sector workers.

The Carolinas benefit from good jobs, good workers, good weather, and - as reconfirmed by this latest government report - a good unionization rate.
