Overview
Steve is a seasoned attorney and Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Corporate & Business Transactions practice group. He represents a broad range of clients across multiple industries, with significant experience advising physician and dental practices, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, healthcare IT companies, and other healthcare-focused organizations. Steve advises clients on both buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, including private equity platform and add-on transactions, strategic acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, and other complex business combinations and contractual arrangements.
After spending more than 20 years at Maynard Nexsen, Steve moved in-house with HighFive Healthcare, a specialty dental services organization, in 2021. As Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, he led HighFive’s legal function and played a key role in shaping and executing HighFive’s strategic growth and M&A initiatives. His responsibilities also included oversight of major contractual, transactional, and operational matters across the organization. Steve’s experience as an in-house executive sharpened his leadership capabilities and provided him with a deep, practical understanding of the legal, business, and operational challenges facing rapidly growing companies.
Steve has been included in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Health Care Law. His experience in the health care sector earned him distinguished recognition as a Leading Practitioner in Healthcare Law by Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He holds a preeminent AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
Steve earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as a Senior Editor of the Alabama Law Review. He holds a B.A. from Auburn University.
