Richard Marsden

Richard is a Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Corporate & Business Transactions practice, based in Huntsville, Alabama. His practice covers mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate governance, securities law, and leveraging technology.

Richard serves as outside general counsel to several defense technology companies in the Huntsville market and as a trusted advisor to their boards on strategic acquisitions, corporate strategy, and governance. In that role he organizes and coordinates teams across the firm, working closely with the Government Solutions group to meet the specialized needs of government contracting clients.

M&A remains the core of his practice. He currently advises a local publicly traded client on domestic and international acquisitions (and divestitures) and has represented a publicly traded defense contractor in its delisting and ultimate sale to Kratos Defense & Security Solutions. He has extensive experience with spinoffs and carve out from large government contractors, advising the resulting companies from formation through growth to revenues exceeding $100 million.

Richard has previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama School of Law.
