Overview

Lisa practices managed care, employment, and commercial litigation. Leveraging years of high-stakes federal and state litigation and arbitration, Lisa assists clients in resolving disputes before they blossom into full-blown litigation. Acting as outside general counsel, Lisa helps clients to negotiate contracts, draft standard forms, and implement policies and procedures to avoid future disputes.

Lisa maintains effective and trusted working relationships with her clients.   • Advised national health plans on pre-litigation disputes and settlement strategy
  • Represented health plans in provider contracting and out-of-network provider reimbursement and contract interpretations disputes in arbitration and federal and state courts
  • Served on a 3-member team of attorneys garnering significant decisions concerning ERISA preemption of Texas Insurance Code provision, culminating in the elimination of millions of dollars in litigation exposure for a key client
  • Sustain deep familiarity with HIPAA, ERISA, state healthcare laws, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance plans, the False Claims Act, Stark, Anti-Kickback Statute, state consumer protection, and deceptive trade practices laws
  • Interacted with regulatory authorities such as the Department of Labor, EEOC and TWC regarding compliance, audits, and other related issues
  • Provided counsel regarding employment law compliance, assist with developing standardized policies, coached leaders through employee issues and terminations, conducted onsite investigations and represented employers during administrative complaints and Department of Labor audits
  • Defended employers in arbitration and state/federal litigation matters (FLSA, Title VII, ADAAA & Ch. 451 retaliation claims)
