Overview
Jason is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Corporate Section, where he focuses his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, real estate finance, and domestic and global tax matters.
Jason’s transaction experience encompasses a broad range of industries, including private equity, healthcare, venture capital, and insurance. His experience includes advising large multinational corporations and institutional investors on tax-efficient reorganizations, legal entity rationalization, partnership and joint venture structuring, real estate syndications, and intercompany refinancings. He regularly handles the creation, reorganization, and acquisition and disposition of corporations, partnerships, and other closely held businesses for clients of all sizes and has extensive experience providing both legal and tax advisory services throughout all phases of the transaction lifecycle.
Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Jason was a Senior Associate in the Transaction Tax and International Transaction Advisory Services groups at Ernst & Young, LLP in New York City and Atlanta, as well as a tax associate with a Florida law firm.
Jason attended the University of Florida, where he earned both a J.D. and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the Levin College of Law. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Heaver School at the University of Florida and a M.B.A. from the University’s Hough Graduate School of Business with a specialization in Corporate Finance.
Experience
- Provided tax counsel to a Fortune 200 client’s tax department on U.S. and international tax law changes, creating tax benefit and alternative capital structure models based on proposed 2021 Greenbook & anticipated US tax reform; presented research to the client’s audit committee & C-suite executives on effective tax planning strategies
- Performed extensive legal research and comprehensive case law analysis for numerous on-going cases including a multijurisdictional class action suit with financial impacts in excess of $15,000,000
