Overview
Hunter is a Registered Patent Attorney and an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Intellectual Property and Private Markets practice groups. She also supports the Firm's Cybersecurity and Privacy, Corporate Governance, and Mergers & Acquisitions groups.
As a registered patent attorney, Hunter's practice focuses on intellectual property strategy, protection, and enforcement. She counsels clients on a full spectrum of IP matters, including patent and trademark portfolio management, U.S. and international trademark prosecution, patent filing and strategy, and IP licensing. Her work includes brand clearance, enforcement actions, intercompany structuring, and drafting complex agreements involving IP assets.
With a technical background in chemistry, Hunter brings expertise in the life sciences, consumer products, and emerging tech industries. She is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
Hunter regularly supports corporate transactions by conducting IP due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and investments. She advises clients on the ownership, validity, and transferability of intellectual property assets, ensuring critical IP is properly protected and positioned for deal execution and post-closing integration.
Hunter holds a J.D., cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she served as a Technology Editor for the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Journal and earned CALI Awards for Intellectual Property and Legal Research, Analysis & Writing III. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from LSU, where she was Captain of the school’s Division I Beach Volleyball team and led the team to its first NCAA Semifinal appearance.
Outside Maynard Nexsen
Outside the firm, Hunter finds joy in travel, particularly when it brings her to Poland to spend time with her immediate family. Visiting them gives her the chance to maintain strong family ties while experiencing life abroad. As a former Division 1 athlete, Hunter remains active on the court playing both volleyball and tennis. She also enjoys exploring new restaurants and local vineyards, often planning her weekends around wine tastings and good meals.
