Overview
Carter is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Recognized for his strategic acumen and results-driven approach, he is skilled at fostering innovation, navigating complex challenges, and delivering meaningful and measurable outcomes.
Carter’s expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including government affairs, economic development, entrepreneurship, startups and small business management, nonprofit leadership, growth strategies, media relations, and communications. With a comprehensive understanding of these disciplines, he consistently develops tailored solutions that address both immediate priorities and long-term objectives.
For fifteen years, Carter served as Vice President for Economic Development at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, where he led teams responsible for fostering and recruiting dozens of biotech companies. Additionally, he spearheaded the efforts to secure funding for and to oversee the construction of several key buildings on the Biotech Campus.
Earlier in his career, Carter held various government and political positions, including serving as Chief of Staff to former U.S. Congressman Bud Cramer.
He draws on his extensive experience, deep network, and first-hand knowledge of the challenges involved in launching, growing, and sustaining businesses and organizations to effectively support and empower clients.
In addition to his role at Maynard Nexsen, he is the principal at Bankhead Strategy & Consulting, LLC, where he guides entrepreneurs and early-stage companies.
