John Erwin brings decades of complex transactional experience in Health Care and Life Sciences sector

Maynard Nexsen is pleased to announce that John Erwin has joined the firm as a Shareholder in its Health Care and Life Sciences practice group, further strengthening the Firm’s capabilities in corporate, transactional, mergers & acquisitions, and health care regulatory and compliance matters.

Erwin advises health care organizations on sophisticated corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other complex commercial arrangements in the health care and life sciences space. He also assists clients in navigating complex regulatory environments and represents a broad range of public and private entities, including health care providers, technology companies, and industry-leading global corporations.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Erwin served as a Partner at a global law firm, where his practice focused on the health and life sciences industry. In that role, he advised domestic and international businesses and handled complex cross-border transactions across the life sciences sector. He continues to draw on this extensive industry experience to deliver strategic, practical solutions for his clients across the country.

Erwin has been recognized consistently for his legal excellence throughout his career. He has been named to Best Lawyers in America every year since 2013 (Biotechnology & Life Sciences Practice, Corporate Governance Law, Corporate Law, and Mergers and Acquisitions Law) and was selected for Business North Carolina’s “Legal Elite” in 2024. In addition, he was appointed by the North Carolina Bar Association to lead a delegation to Argentina in 2008 and as a delegate to Taiwan in 2006.

Erwin earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and holds a B.A. in Economics from Davidson College, with a year of undergraduate study at Marburg University in Germany.
