Nexsen Pruet Names New Members for 2020

Nexsen Pruet is pleased to announce Kyle Brannon, Justin Hoyle, Melissa Fried Spence and Mike Scott of the firm's Columbia and Charleston offices are Members (Partners) effective January 1, 2020.

Kyle Brannon, based in Columbia, South Carolina, is an attorney in the Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group focusing on commercial and consumer collections, foreclosures, workouts and bankruptcies. He has engaged in a broad range of legal research, drafted motions, memos, and pleadings related to bankruptcy, collections, and foreclosure matters, and has worked with attorneys across a number of other practice areas including tax, employment, estate planning, health care and antitrust law.

Justin Hoyle, based in Charleston, South Carolina, is a corporate attorney with a concentration on helping clients build legal strategies that support business growth and economic vitality in the region. He is well versed in a wide range of areas, including banking, creditors’ rights, commercial real estate, economic development incentives, and corporate and business planning, particularly in the area of taxation. Justin is a member of the firm's Agribusiness industry team.

Melissa Fried Spence, based in Charleston, South Carolina, is an employment attorney who focuses her work on building proactive strategies that help clients avoid long, protracted legal disputes involving a variety of labor and employment matters. She has represented employers in both state and federal court against lawsuits arising under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and the FLSA. She also represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission. 

Mike Scott, based in Columbia, South Carolina, is a member of Nexsen Pruet's Employment and Labor Law team, where he focuses on anti-discrimination and retaliation training and advice and counsel. Mike is also a litigator with significant experience in South Carolina’s state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including the Department of Employment and Workforce and the Human Affairs Commission. Mike frequently guides his clients through the federal administrative maze as well, defending cases before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, and the Department of Labor.
