David Robinson Discusses the Effects of COVID 19 on Global Trade
David Robinson, Special Counsel and International Business Attorney in Nexsen Pruet's Raleigh, North Carolina, office, appeared on the statewide Spectrum News program "Capital Tonight" to discuss COVID 19 (the Coronavirus).
David and North Carolina State University Professor Michael Walden were invited to lend their economic knowledge and provide insight on the potential impact of the virus. During the segment, David highlighted North Carolina's agricultural export business and the critical impact it has on farmer's profit as well as the current and potential relations between China and the United States.

On North Carolina Agriculture:
"North Carolina agriculture is participating in the Global economy whether they want to or not, so it is critically important how much pork product and how many soy beans the world is buying from us. It's where the real profit potential is for North Carolina farmers and last year it ended quite well, but the winds are not blowing as favorably now because of the Coronavirus in particular".
On relations between America and China:
"I think our country has a real opportunity in terms of repairing some of the trade war damage that's been done with China. The fear I have is that you've seen now in the Chinese trade press where they are starting to critique our H1N1 response. There's a bit of a nationalistic response 'stop picking on China and our open air food markets'. Long term, this relationship could go one of two ways - we've been on this rocky road for a little while now and to see that nationalistic push back to stop picking on them - I'm a little fearful about where that might lead us long term."
