Overview
As a Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Corporate & Business practice group, Trey brings a deep expertise in fund formation and institutional investment negotiations developed over more than two decades in the private investment industry.
Prior to joining the Firm, Trey served for nearly 20 years as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Harbert Management Corporation. In that role, he acted as the primary in-house legal counsel for multiple global private market fund strategies, including private equity, real estate, mezzanine debt, and venture capital. He has significant experience in structuring, negotiating, and drafting private market fund formation documents, including fund governing documents and private placement memoranda. Trey also has deep experience with middle-market private company transactions, including mergers, equity, and asset acquisitions/divestitures, private equity and venture capital financings, "add-on" acquisitions, minority and dividend recapitalizations, and joint ventures. Earlier in his career, Trey was an Associate at a Birmingham-based law firm.
Trey brings a practical, business-oriented approach to client service, leveraging his extensive legal and transactional experience to help clients navigate complex matters with confidence.
