Overview

Tim is a Shareholder in the Firm’s Financial Services group. His well-rounded perspective on complex regulatory, compliance, and investigative matters stems from his broad experience in private practice, in-house counsel roles, and government service. His diverse background informs the strong strategic and analytical approach he brings to his clients' matters.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Tim was an Executive Director in Morgan Stanley's Legal and Compliance Division, where he led internal investigations across the Southeast region involving fraud, misappropriation, and corporate policy violations. He also represented the company in regulatory investigations conducted by FINRA and the SEC and in FINRA arbitrations regarding allegations of broker misconduct.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Tim worked as Counsel in the litigation and controversy practice of a multinational law firm, where he represented clients in matters involving government investigations, including the SEC, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Tim also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, where he oversaw grand jury investigations, prosecuted a variety of criminal matters, and successfully briefed and argued an appeal before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Tim’s extensive government service includes over a decade as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he supervised a white-collar crime squad, led criminal and national security computer intrusion investigations, conducted a highly sensitive internal investigation, and investigated a Cabinet member as part of an Independent Counsel Investigation.

Dedicated to shaping the future of the practice, Tim serves as an adjunct professor at the University of West Florida, where he teaches an undergraduate course on white-collar crime. He finds enjoyment in sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of legal professionals.
