Terra Silva

Terra is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Employment & Labor practice group. Her practice focuses on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including those arising under Title VII, Section 1981, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.  

Terra represents clients in litigation proceedings as well as before administrative agencies. Drawing on her broad knowledge and experience, she advises employers on day-to-day workplace matters to mitigate risk and help prevent employment disputes. She also assists with drafting and updating employee handbooks and preparing separation and severance agreements. 

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Terra represented insurers and businesses to resolve insurance disputes and employment issues. Terra also counseled foreign nationals on immigration issues, including asylum and removal, and represented clients before the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review. 

Before attending law school, Terra worked in court advocacy for victims of domestic violence and in grant writing, developing foundational advocacy and communication skills that continue to inform her practice today. 

Terra earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Samford University Cumberland School of Law, where she served as a Writing and Bluebook Editor of the Cumberland Law Review. She also completed a judicial externship with the Honorable R. David Proctor for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Terra holds an M.A. in Political Science from El Colegio de Mexico and a B.A. in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Wellesley College.
