Overview

Stephen is Of Counsel on the Firm’s Insurance team. He is an experienced litigator whose practice spans trial and appellate matters across a range of industries and substantive areas.

Stephen is barred in Florida and Alabama and also has extensive experience in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Ninth Circuits. His appellate background frequently brings him into pre-trial teams to brief and argue dispositive motions, class certification, and evidentiary issues. He approaches each matter with strategic insight informed from his years of legal experience, working to maximize favorable outcomes for his clients.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Stephen practiced at a southeastern-based firm focusing on banking and financial services litigation. In this role, he litigated hundreds of matters for financial institutions involving mortgage liens, banking issues, and Telephone Consumer Protection Act matters. Before entering private practice, he clerked for Judge Virginia Emerson Hopkins of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was the Articles Development Editor for the Virginia Sports & Entertainment Law Journal. He holds his M.A. in Philosophy from Georgia State University and his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
