Overview

Sean Phelan helps clients in the banking and finance, commercial real estate and telecommunications industries. His work also includes a wide range of issues such as corporate law and litigation defense involving workers compensation claims for insured and self-insured companies. 

Typical engagements include:

  • Handling of real estate, asset based and SBA loans for regional and national lenders.
  • Acquisition and development of commercial real estate projects.
  • Commercial lease negotiations for office and retail uses, and lease workouts. Telecommunication site approval, zoning and leasing.
  • Defense of worker’s compensation claims.

Sean is active in the North Carolina Bar Association and has served as Chair of the Commercial Committee for the Real Property Section. His activities with civic organizations include coaching youth sports, leading property owners' associations and service on boards and committees of various charitable and religious organizations.

As an undergrad, Sean was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a recipient of the John Motley Morehead Scholarship at the University of North Carolina. He earned his B.A. ('88) and M.B.A ('92) from UNC. He earned his law degree and masters in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in law school, he served on the Editorial Staff of The North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation.

Community & Professional
