Overview
Scott is a Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Insurance practice group.
With nearly 30 years of experience as a litigator, Scott has a national practice representing employers, insurers, and other clients in a wide variety of ERISA benefit and coverage disputes, as well as defending employer plans and their insurers from claims of fiduciary breach, statutory or regulatory violation, and, in the non-ERISA context, state-law claims for insurer bad faith and extra-contractual damages. Scott also litigates rescission cases, interpleader matters, and recovery of overpaid benefits.
Prior to focusing his practice on ERISA and insurance-related matters, Scott was a commercial litigator, representing businesses and their owners in complex business disputes, including unfair trade practices, theft of trade secrets, employment discrimination claims, whistleblower and retaliation claims, fiduciary breaches, indemnification and contribution claims, and trademark and patent infringement.
Scott holds a J.D. from Emory University School of Law.
