Overview

Sarah Ashley, or Sash, is a Charlotte native and earned her law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law.  During law school, she served as Manuscripts Editor on the University of Richmond Law Review and worked as a student attorney in the Intellectual Property and Transactional Law Clinic. She was also featured as a student author in Richmond Law Review’s 2017 January Book.

Sash practiced at Erwin, Capitano & Moss after law school before joining the District Court of Western North Carolina as a law clerk to Judge Max. O. Cogburn, Jr.  After her clerkship, Sash returned to Erwin, Capitano & Moss, where she focused her practice on business litigation.

Sash enjoys being active outdoors with her dog, Calvin, and playing recreational soccer.

Experience

  • Sash represents general contractors and subcontractors in commercial and residential disputes.
  • Although her practice is focused on litigation, she helps clients avoid litigation by giving proactive advice at the outset of projects to mitigate risks, manage disputes, and increase the likelihood of successful project outcomes. 
  • Sash has worked with construction clients to dispute a wide range of issues, including delay, construction defects, change order disputes, differing site conditions, labor productivity losses and inefficiencies, failure to pay, contract interpretation, insurance coverage, design errors and omissions, mechanics liens, and statutory violations.
  • In addition to her construction practice, Sash also regularly represents clients in other business matters including contract disputes, supply chain issues, manufacturing defects, local government disputes, labor and employment litigation, landlord-tenant matters, and other disputes involving commercial and residential real property.
  • She strives to resolve cases as efficiently as possible so that her clients can focus on their businesses instead of legal issues.
  • Sash represents clients in all phases of state and federal court litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
