Overview
As a member of Maynard Nexsen’s Insurance Practice Group, Sam focuses his practice on representing health care insurers in complex litigation. He advocates for major health plans in arbitration and litigation involving hospital and provider contract disputes, as well as broader provider-related issues. Sam's process includes conducting detailed analyses of contracts and disputed claims to form case strategy, advising clients on risk exposure, and conferring with both lay and expert witnesses to prepare for depositions and hearings.
Sam takes a comprehensive and strategic approach to each case, with a strong commitment to achieving successful outcomes for his clients.
He earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School, where he completed a concentration in Civil Litigation. Sam graduated with honors while maintaining his role as a full-time law clerk. Prior to attending law school, he received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Chapman University.
Experience
- Worked on the team representing victims of mass shooting to secure an $800 million mass tort settlement. Served as clients’ point of contact throughout the life of the case. Worked directly with clients to create individual damages packages during allocation of funds.
- Represented victims of California wildfires in successful litigation against utility companies.
- Worked on teams obtaining favorable verdicts and settlements in various employment matters involving violations of FEHA and California Labor Code.
