Overview

Meredith is Of Counsel in Maynard Nexsen's Government Investigations & White Collar Defense practice group.

She is skilled in white collar and investigations work, assisting individuals and entities in responding to subpoenas, producing documents, and preparing for interviews. Meredith supports clients in settlements and trials in state and federal courts and has represented clients facing asset forfeiture and seizure as well as professional licensure issues. She also has extensive experience in Title IX investigations and student conduct matters.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Meredith served as Partner at Dysart Willis, a full-service criminal defense firm. She has interned at the U.S. Department of Justice Organized Crime and Gang Section and has experience in state court, having interned with the Forsyth County and Wake County district attorneys' offices.

She currently serves on the Board of the Tenth Judicial District and Wake County Bar Association, and was the recipient of the Tenth Judicial District and Wake County Bar Association's 2020 President's Award for her service and commitment to the Young Lawyers Division.

Meredith holds a J.D. from Wake Forest School of Law, where she currently serves on the Rose Council, its young alumni board. While in law school, she was the President of Women in Law at Wake Forest and received the Forsyth County Women Attorney's Association Scholarship Award upon graduation for her efforts in the organization. She was a member of the Pro Bono Honor Society and is the author of various publications, including an article on transnational civil litigation in the Baku State University Law Review, as well as an entry on copyright in the music industry in the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law Blog. She earned her B.A. in Political Science from North Carolina State University.

Representative Experience

Indicted Criminal Matters

  • Defended individual in state superior court on financial fraud offenses. Individual was successfully enrolled in a diversion program in lieu of a conviction.

Title IX Investigations

  • Defended doctoral professor in university Title IX investigation and hearing involving sexual assault offenses. Professor was found not responsible.
  • Defended college senior in university Title IX investigation and hearing involving sexual assault offenses where student faced possible expulsion. Student was found not responsible and received diploma.
  • Defended international student in university Title IX investigation involving sexual assault offenses. Successfully negotiated university settlement in lieu of formal Title IX proceedings.

Victim Advocacy, Asset Forfeiture, and Other Matters

  • Assisted victim of harassment and dating violence in investigating occurrence, reporting to law enforcement, and pursuing federal prosecution.
  • Assisted disabled veteran in asset seizure and civil forfeiture proceedings following federal criminal information.
  • Assisted individual in negotiations and settlement of a $500,000.00 state unauthorized substance use tax assessment.
