Melissa Ferrell*

Melissa is a Shareholder in the Firm’s Complex and Commercial Litigation practice group.  She has experience representing clients in high-stakes product liability litigation, including pharmaceutical companies and automobile manufacturers.

Before joining Maynard Nexsen, Melissa was a Partner at a Product Liability Defense Firm in their Austin office, where she developed strategic litigation approaches, managed cases in both state and federal courts, and negotiated multi-million-dollar national inventory settlement agreements.  She also previously served as a public defender in the Travis County Probate Court, representing individuals detained in mental health facilities and jails. Her role as a public defender strengthened her advocacy skills and deepened her commitment to client-centered representation.

She earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and received her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
