Overview

Leo is a Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Litigation section and a member of the Financial Services practice group.  He represents a diverse range of clients, including national brokerage firms, financial institutions, and corporations, with a focus on Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitration of intra-industry disputes and customer claims, as well as complex commercial litigation before federal and state courts.

Leo has served as lead counsel in numerous FINRA arbitrations through to award, navigating complex disputes involving broker compensation, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, Form U5 expungement and defamation claims, as well as customer claims involving fraud, unsuitability, and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with a wide variety of financial products. He also represents firms in internal and regulatory investigations and advises on complex legal and compliance matters.

Leo’s depth in the financial services sector is derived from his experience in private practice at a global law firm as well as his tenure as a Director in the litigation department of a major broker-dealer. This dual perspective allows Leo to deliver practical, client-side insights alongside sophisticated advocacy.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Leo was a Partner at a national full-service firm in Atlanta, where his focus included complex commercial litigation and professional liability disputes before federal, state, and appellate courts. As lead counsel, Leo successfully represented businesses and individuals in high-stakes matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, trademark and copyright infringement, and tortious interference with business relationships.
