Kendra Key

Kendra is Of Counsel in Maynard Nexsen’s Public Finance practice group. She brings a broad range of experience spanning federal courts, corporate law, community development finance, and banking. Her diverse background enables her to approach each matter with strong strategic insight and a well-rounded perspective, helping clients achieve effective outcomes. 

Prior to returning to private practice, Kendra served as Executive Director of the Entrepreneurship Center for Growth and Excellence in Birmingham. In that role, she leveraged her experience in community and economic development finance to develop strategies that connect businesses with critical resources. She continues to apply the insights and skills gained in that role to her legal practice. 

Kendra clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and served as a Legislative Aide in the U.S. House of Representatives. She earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board and as Symposium Editor of the Environmental Law and Policy Annual Review. She holds a B.A. from the University of Alabama. She is a Truman Scholar and Blackburn Institute Fellow.
