Joseph Speight

Joseph is a seasoned business attorney in the Firm’s Private Markets practice group. He has years of experience representing companies across a wide range of industries and his practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions including private placements and venture capital investments, as well as general corporate governance

Joseph assists his clients by drafting and negotiating transaction documents, leading due diligence efforts, and negotiating shareholder and management equity agreements.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Joseph served as a Corporate and Emerging Company/Venture Capital Associate at a multinational law firm. He also worked as a Corporate and Securities Associate, gaining valuable experience advising on transactional matters and negotiating key deal documents.

Joseph earned his J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University School of Law. He holds a B.A. from Washington and Lee University.

Prior to law school, Joseph was a business owner and manager for thirteen years, which gives him a unique perspective that enables him to deeply understand his clients’ business needs and deliver practical, value-driven legal counsel.
