Overview
John is an attorney in the Firm’s Government Investigations and White-Collar Defense practice group, where he assists individuals and organizations facing actual or threatened government investigations and prosecutions or related civil actions and conducts internal investigations.
Before joining Maynard Nexsen, John served as a Term Law Clerk to the Honorable Chad W. Bryan of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. In that role, he drafted opinions, reports, and recommendations and orders involving complex criminal and civil matters. During law school, John externed with the Firm’s Government Investigations and White-Collar Defense practice group before ultimately rejoining the practice group following his federal clerkship.
John earned his J.D., cum laude, from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he served as Online Research Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and Chief Judge of the Trial Advocacy Board. He was also recognized as an Academic All-American Trial Advocate, an honor awarded to 20 law students nationwide for excellence in advocacy and academic achievement. During law school, John competed on Cumberland’s nationally recognized Trial Team and, through his Third-Year Practice Card, successfully tried numerous state criminal matters, both felony and misdemeanor.
John earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia. He continues to coach Cumberland’s Trial Team and is an active member of the Cathedral Church of the Advent.
