Overview

Curtis is Of Counsel in Maynard Nexsen's Government Investigations and White-Collar Defense practice group. An experienced criminal defense attorney, he represents clients facing both state and federal charges, with a focus on matters involving complex evidentiary issues, multi-agency investigations, and high-stakes trial litigation. He brings a strategic and analytical perspective to each matter, working to achieve favorable outcomes for his clients.

Curtis has broad experience across both public and private practice. He previously served as a criminal defense associate at a Columbia-based firm, where he managed a caseload of complex matters and handled all phases of litigation, from investigation through pretrial motions, trial, post-trial proceedings, and appeals. He also completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Sherri A. Lydon of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.

In addition, Curtis served as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps, where he held a range of roles, including series commander, trial counsel, chief legal assistance officer, and Special Assistant United States Attorney. His diverse experience informs the practical and strategic approach he brings to his current practice.

Curtis earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review. He holds his B.S. from the University of Delaware.
