Overview

Ben is a Shareholder in the Firm’s Government Investigations & White-Collar Defense practice group, and he brings a strong background in public service and criminal enforcement to his practice.

Before joining the Firm, Ben spent more than a decade at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, where he served in several senior leadership roles, including the Chief of the Criminal Division, Deputy Criminal Chief, and Assistant U.S. Attorney. In these roles, he supervised all criminal cases and investigations, managed all attorneys and staff assigned to the Criminal Division, and prosecuted hundreds of matters involving complex fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, violent crime, and drug trafficking. His experience handling a wide range of criminal cases strengthened his ability to manage complex investigations, which is a skill he continues to carry with him into his current practice.

Earlier in his career, Ben served as a Law Clerk for both Honorable Henry F. Floyd at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Honorable Henry M. Herlong, Jr. at the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.

Ben earned his J.D. from Charleston School of Law, where he was the Editor in Chief for the Charleston Law Review and one of four students inducted into the Forensic Club based upon demonstrated leadership, professionalism, public service, and academic commitment. He received his B.A. in Government from Wofford College.
