Overview
Andrew is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Labor & Employment and Complex & Commercial Litigation practice groups.
He draws on his six years in journalism to explain the law in plain English while helping employers resolve disputes, conduct internal investigations, and navigate a web of federal, state, and local laws.
During law school, Andrew gained insight into judicial and corporate processes during internships with the North Carolina Court of Appeals and a manufacturer with over 15,000 employees. He was named a Wordsworth Fellow in Entrepreneurship in recognition of outstanding work for local nonprofits in the Community Development Law Clinic. His coursework, including a Certificate of Merit in Media Law, prepared him to advise clients regarding defamation, media, and First Amendment issues.
Before law school, he wrote about government for The Atlantic, covered Congress for Law360, and contributed to breaking news coverage that made the Houston Chronicle a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Andrew holds a J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was a Notes Editor for the First Amendment Law Review and President of the Media Law Society while volunteering at the N.C. Cancer Hospital. He earned a B.A. with distinction from Duke University, where he was the Student Commencement Speaker and now serves as Board Secretary for the Wesley Methodist Fellowship.
