Overview
Vanessa Perez-Ramos is a Patent Attorney with more than 15 years of experience supporting clients in matters related to patent procurement and protection. Vanessa leverages her previous experience as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO to provide meaningful and cost-effective intellectual property protection for her clients. She is experienced in a wide range of technology areas, including organic and inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor manufacturing, steel products, oil and gas, thermoplastics, cosmetics, polymers, nanotechnology, materials engineering, automotive technologies, life sciences, and biology, among others.
Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Vanessa served as Of Counsel at a leading intellectual property law firm, and as In-house Counsel for a global intellectual property management company, where she managed a portfolio comprising more than 3,000 worldwide semiconductor-related patents and patent applications, and additionally provided licensing and litigation support. Vanessa has lectured on various intellectual property topics, both domestically and internationally.
Vanessa has a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and earned her JD from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC. She began her career as a Project Engineer for a large multinational oil and gas company, managing optimization and troubleshooting projects at the company’s largest oil refinery.

Vanessa is an avid traveler, nature lover, and self-confessed bookworm. When she is away from the office, you will likely find her either at a local bookstore, or exploring nearby mountains and waterfalls.
