Overview

Mary Ann is an Associate in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Her practice focuses on counseling clients in patent and trademark prosecution as well as litigating cases involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and unfair competition. 

Mary Ann’s experience has touched every aspect of the litigation process – she assists clients in alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation and arbitration, and litigates in federal trial and appellate courts across the country.  Mary Ann has worked on appeals at the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Third Circuit, and Federal Circuit. 

Mary Ann also has transactional, licensing, and counseling experience involving new and emerging technologies, government contracting regulations, and cybersecurity.  Her passion for technology and innovation is the logical intersection of her technical background and her law practice, and her broad experience provides a full spectrum knowledge base to help protect and enforce her clients’ intellectual property rights. 

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Mary Ann served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Mark H. Cohen in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and as a Staff Attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mary Ann earned her J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law and her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  She is currently attaining her Online Master of Cybersecurity also from Georgia Tech.
