Maynard Adds Seasoned Securities Litigation Attorneys in Atlanta

04.21.2021

Maynard & Gale (Maynard) welcomes seasoned attorneys Terry R. Weiss and Stefanie M. Wayco to its nationally recognized Securities Litigation Practice. Terry and Stefanie join the Firm as Shareholders to lead Maynard’s newly established Atlanta, Georgia office.

“Terry and Stefanie are highly respected attorneys in their field who mirror our client-centered service approach,” said Jeff Grantham, Maynard’s managing shareholder. “We look forward to the impact they will have on our expanding Securities Practice and Firm.”

With 45 years of combined practical experience, Terry Weiss and Stefanie Wayco focus their practices on representing the securities industry in the full range of legal disputes. In that capacity, they represent financial services firms, broker-dealers, investment advisors, prime brokers, clearing firms, and securities industry professionals in regulatory and enforcement matters, civil litigation and arbitrations, and internal investigations. In the enforcement arena, they work with and litigate against securities industry regulators, including the SEC, FINRA, and state regulators, among others. Terry has served as lead counsel in over 100 arbitrations through award and has actively supervised the handling of hundreds of others, including appellate matters. Stefanie’s experience also includes handling mass actions, product cases, alternative investments, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, outside business activities, privilege issues, compliance policies, supervisory policies, and standard operating procedures for financial services firms.

“I have worked side by side with Peter Fruin and his Maynard colleagues in many different client litigations and regulatory cases for more than a decade, and it seemed that whenever we worked on something collaboratively together, we not only achieved great results but enjoyed the experience as well,” said Terry Weiss. “While the informal relationship was great, it was a mutual client who encouraged us to explore a formal relationship.”

“I have had the privilege of working with Terry over the years on mutual clients,” said Peter Fruin, chair of Maynard’s Securities Litigation Practice. “The addition of Terry and Stefanie with their deep background in representing multinational investment banks and financial services companies will further solidify the Firm’s nationally recognized Securities Litigation Practice.”

Maynard’s Securities Litigation Group provides litigation, arbitration, and regulatory services to a broad and diverse client base, including Fortune 500 companies. Consistently recognized as a “Litigation Powerhouse” by BTI Consulting Group, the Securities Practice has handled thousands of securities arbitrations in more than 44 states across the U.S. and internationally over the past ten years, serving numerous broker-dealers, national insurance carriers, and financial services clients.
