PATENTS
Our registered patent attorneys and patent agents have undergraduate and graduate degrees in a broad range of fields, including physics, electrical engineering, computer science, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. We write, file, and prosecute applications for U.S. patents and work with foreign agents to provide oversight strategy and prosecute foreign counterpart applications around the world. We work with our clients, who range from small startups to Fortune 500 corporations, to develop IP strategies and provide flexible fee arrangements that fit our client’s needs.
TRADEMARKS AND TRADE DRESS
Our IP Group has many experienced trademark attorneys who frequently handle trademark and trade dress matters. Our trademark attorneys have substantial experience handling initial trademark clearance searches for proposed marks and in securing federal, state, and international trademark registrations before the relevant trademark examining authorities. Our attorneys represent clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings directed to federal trademark applications and registrations.
COPYRIGHT
Maynard Nexsen attorneys secure for our clients both public and secret federal copyright registrations. Our attorneys also provide counseling and formal opinions for clients regarding infringement and freedom to operate.
TRADE SECRETS
Maynard Nexsen combines the legal and technical knowledge of its intellectual property attorneys, coupled with the substantial experience of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, to provide clients with comprehensive advice concerning the complexities of trade secret matters. The firm has the combined competency to handle both the intellectual property issues and the labor law issues that are an integral part of crafting employment agreements and implementing practices to protect confidential information. We are experienced in obtaining court orders, including preliminary injunctions, to minimize the impact of trade secret misappropriation.
LICENSING
Maynard Nexsen IP attorneys have substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex intellectual property and technology transfer licenses. In licensing transactions involving technology, our IP attorneys have a detailed understanding of the subject technology and the scope of protections surrounding that technology. That capability ensures that the licensing transaction is effective in transferring the rights intended by the parties. We are experienced in working with clients to obtain all important rights and protections specific to patents, trademarks, know-how, exclusivity, future rights and indemnification.
